About AtomQ

Building the quantum foundry.

AtomQ was formed to carry atomic manipulation beyond one-off scientific demonstrations and into a scalable engineering discipline.

Our mission

Give engineers control over matter at its most fundamental scale.

Material properties emerge from atomic structure, yet today’s fabrication tools largely stop at the nanometer scale and treat many defects statistically. AtomQ is closing that gap by developing the control systems, fabrication recipes and integration pathways needed to create designed structures atom by atom.

Our aim is to become the manufacturing engine behind a new class of quantum devices and programmable materials.

Our origin

From national-laboratory research to commercial technology.

AtomQ grew from research in electron-beam control and atomic manipulation at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company is supported through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Innovation Crossroads program, which embeds science-based startups at ORNL to advance laboratory breakthroughs toward the market.
